Children may join the school at seven years old.
We aim to encourage the natural enthusiasm shown by every young child and develop their enjoyment and a love of learning.
Children are introduced to the National Curriculum Spelling scheme in their first class and see the weekly learning of a few spellings as a fun learning experience, rewarded with praise, encouragement and stars!
Children who have experienced problems with early reading are treated with sensitivity, given individual tuition outside the main class and encouraged to read books appropriate to their age and interests.
Mathematics is taught with a balance between theory and practical activities and tables are introduced to year 3 pupils.
English, Science, History and Knowledge of the World are taught in all classes and, with Music, Art, Craft, Computers, Design, Technology and Citizenship, provide every child with a balanced Curriculum.
French is introduced to children in Class three and above.
