Cognition and Learning
Support for learning difficulties may be required when children and young people learn at a slower pace than their peers, even with appropriate differentiation. Learning difficulties cover a wide range of needs, including moderate learning difficulties (MLD). Specific learning difficulties (SpLD), affecting one or more specific aspects of learning. This encompasses a range of conditions such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.
Examples of provision:
- Lesson planning that takes into account the individual needs of the students
- Small class sizes
- Precision teaching
- Additional support and interventions in identified areas of need such as Read Write Inc, Toe by Toe, I Can Read
- Bespoke timetables
- Access to Occupational Therapist for assessment and support
- Specialist Dyslexia trained staff
